FunSongs at Didacta and TESOL
21st March 2025
Accelerated learning through music and action songs
24th May 2025On April 30th, Charles Goodger led a dynamic two-hour workshop on the FunSongs Method for the German coordinators of an EU educational initiative. The session, hosted at the Goethe-Zentrum in Bologna thanks to the support of director Julia Heumann, introduced participants to the power of teaching English through music, movement, and action songs.
The workshop was part of preparations for an upcoming Erasmus Plus exchange: in November 2025, a group of teachers from Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, North-East Germany, will visit several Bologna schools to compare teaching methods and organizational strategies. Coordinators Sophie Ludwige and Ulrike Kaiser-Sturm traveled to Bologna to plan the visit with their Italian counterparts, taking the opportunity to explore innovative classroom approaches.
Sophie Ludwige reached out to Charles Goodger to connect with Bologna University and Majorana High School in San Lazzaro. Recognizing the potential of the FunSongs Method, she invited Charles to deliver a practical workshop for the German team.
Participants engaged enthusiastically, discovering firsthand how presentative action songs can make language learning more memorable and enjoyable. The collaboration highlights the value of sharing creative teaching techniques across borders, enriching educational practice for both teachers and students.
