Come to IATEFL Brighton
15th December 2025
Charles Goodger presented another NonniNipoti Workshop at the PIME Centre in Via Monte Rosa, Milan, Italy, on Friday, 14 November 2025. This was the fourth edition of this lively event, which aims to foster a joyful and meaningful learning experience for both grandchildren and their grandparents through FunSongs action songs. Families participating in the workshop received a unique access code, granting them free downloads of FunSongs materials to use at home. In 2026, Charles Goodger plans to expand the NonniNipoti Show to other Italian cities, with Bologna confirmed as one of the new venues.
About the NonniNipoti Workshop
The NonniNipoti Workshop, led by Charles Goodger—composer, educator, and founder of FunSongs Education—is designed to unite multiple generations in learning English through music, movement, and performance. These action song sessions use original FunSongs materials, which are specifically created to enhance language acquisition, memory, and motivation.
- The event features interactive singing and dancing, encouraging children and their grandparents to learn together while having fun.
- Action songs incorporate gestures, rhythm, and mime, engaging both linguistic and musical intelligences, and leading to deep and lasting memory retention.
- The workshop employs methods recognized for their cultural, social, and pedagogical validity, making it particularly effective for young learners and memorable for older participants.

What Families Receive
All participating families will be provided with a special access code after the workshop. This allows them to download a selection of FunSongs action song packages, graded worksheets, and teaching notes for free. These resources are designed for further practice at home, ensuring ongoing enjoyment and consolidation of new language skills.
Expansion in 2026
Building on the success of previous NonniNipoti Workshops in Milan, Charles Goodger will launch the NonniNipoti Show in new cities in 2026, including Bologna. These future events aim to enrich language education and strengthen community ties by providing more families the opportunity to enjoy the FunSongs experience together.
The FunSongs Approach
- FunSongs action songs present new vocabulary and grammar through engaging melodies, movement, and mime.
- Developed over decades by Charles Goodger, this method has won international recognition and has been implemented in schools and workshops across Europe.music-and-mime-rhythm-and-rhyme-2024.pdf+1funsongs
- The approach draws on theories of multiple intelligences and Total Physical Response, ensuring each learner benefits from both cognitive and emotional engagement.
- FunSongs shows and workshops provide a collective learning atmosphere that is entertaining, motivating, and effective for language development.
This upcoming event in Milan is another step in the growing tradition of the NonniNipoti Workshop, demonstrating the ongoing impact of music and motion in language learning for families across Italy.
